How has the repeal of the Louisiana Teacher Assistance and Assessment Program (LaTAAP) affected my certification process?
Act 54, passed in May 2010, repealed the state-mandated LaTAAP process for new teachers. Because of the implementation timelines of this new legislation, in school year 2010-2011, school districts were allowed to evaluate new teachers according to the guidelines that had been established within their local personnel evaluation programs. The repeal of the LaTAAP affects those teachers who may not have completed all of the requirements of the LaTAAP by May 2010 (passage of
Act 54).
